Amateur Woodworker

I have always had an interest in woodworking, but no skills in this area.  However, my sister, Mary, has a beautiful workshop in her basement that was designed and used by her late husband, Bruce.  Bruce developed amazing skills as he spent his college years working for a custom cabinet and woodworking company.  When Mary and Bruce were building their new Southern Living plan custom house, Bruce designed and built all the trim, cabinets, and built-ins for their new house.  Mary, being an eager student, learned many skills while helping her husband.  Now, Mary helps all her friends and family who have a woodworking project.  Thank you Mary and Bruce, for all your help.

So when my grandson expressed a desire for bunk beds, I decide to enlist the help of my husband and my sister.  I searched online for plans, and came across a great site, (ana-white.com).  She has a plethora of furniture plans.  I took her Simple Bed Design and modified it to fit the desires of my grandson and his parents.  They wanted a full size bed on the bottom and a twin as the top bunk.  We also built steps rather than a ladder.  The steps are safer for climbing, and they are open on the one side to provide a place for stuffed animals, legos, etc.

I think the project was a great success.  My grandson loves it.  Now I want to make a new kitchen table!!!!
